Group travel vs private travel: which is right for you?

Group travel wins when

  • You're solo and want to meet people.
  • Budget is tight — groups split costs.
  • You hate planning.
  • The destination is unfamiliar and intimidating (Ladakh road trip, Bhutan).
  • You enjoy shared energy — photography tours, trekking trips.

Private travel wins when

  • You're a couple or family.
  • Pace matters — group tours run on the lowest-common-denominator timeline.
  • Preferences are specific — diet, mobility, interests.
  • You want flexibility to change plans.
  • You value privacy, rest days, early exits.

The hybrid option

Many couples book a private trip and join a group activity (a trek, a cooking class). Best of both.

Cost reality

  • Group tour, 7 days Rajasthan: ₹28,000–₹45,000 per person.
  • Private tour, same 7 days: ₹50,000–₹1,20,000 per person.

Private is 1.5–3x the price but 10x the flexibility. Worth it for most trip types — except solo and bare-budget.

Our view

We only do private trips. Not because group is bad — because it's a different product. If you want a group experience, platforms like Wanderon and Capture A Trip do that well. For private, contact us.
